the a cappella academy
The A Cappella Academy is a training course for all singers - from keen amateurs to professionals, from barbershoppers to beat boxers. It’s a platform for me to pass on the tips and tricks that I picked up during my time in The King’s Singers; a place where both vocal ensembles and individual singers can learn the unique set of skills to become more accomplished choral musicians. In addition to workshops, I also lead 'Question + Answer' sessions for all participants, and the event concludes with a public showcase performance for singers to show-off their newly-developed techniques!
I’m always looking for exciting new opportunities to spread the a cappella love so just send me a message if you’re interested in learning more about the craft of ensemble singing.

Dr. Carl Crossin OAM: Founder and Conductor Emeritus - Adelaide Chamber Singers & Associate Professor of Music - The University of Adelaide
“Timothy Wayne-Wright is, without doubt, a master teacher and ensemble coach. I was very fortunate to witness Tim’s coaching of four of Adelaide’s leading choral ensembles at the inaugural UKARIA Acapella Academy in 2022. His ability to isolate and workshop the essential needs of each of these four quite diverse ensembles, and then affect significant change in a short period of time, was an absolute joy to observe. And all done with firm yet gentle insistence wrapped in grace, encouragement and good humour.”
Kerry Bennett: Choral Producer - Festival of Voices
“Workshop participants from a variety of backgrounds across Australia have thoroughly enjoyed working with Tim in our 2022 and 2023 A Cappella and Chamber Choir Workshops. Singers enjoyed his range of warm-ups and the diversity of well-chosen repertoire along with his encouraging, positive teaching and mentoring style. Tim’s generosity with his time and talents throughout the festival allowed participants to draw deeply from his wealth of knowledge and experience to create dynamic performances at festival events.”
Jonathan Bligh: Artistic Director - Festival Statesmen Chorus
“Tim is an incredibly generous and highly skilled craftsman when it comes to fine tuning a cappella vocal ensembles. His pedigree is second to none yet his easygoing, warm, engaging and charismatic approach puts singers at ease and brings out the very best in the singers he works with. He teaches and facilitates workshops in a way that singers are able to unlock the 'next level' in their singing journey wherever they are at.”
Eleasha-June Mah: Creative Programs Manager - Music Performance UNSW
“Timothy Wayne-Wright’s grasp and knowledge of a cappella repertoire, choral techniques, and the nuances of singing together was clear as he presented a glorious weekend workshop for UNSW’s inhouse chamber choir and visiting guest choir. The workshop was highly informative, interactive, and responsive to the needs of each ensemble. Timothy tailored his advice specifically to the choirs, delivering feedback and ideas to try in a dynamic and enjoyable workshop experience! I highly recommend Timothy and his academy program. His ability to hold the room, and lift everyone to the next level was exciting for participants and observers alike. Thank you, Timothy!”

It has been an absolute joy to work with Tim. From the repertoire chosen, enthusiasm, and top-tier vocal building, singers have learnt a great deal and have had a fulfilling time working with him. Tim works to a very high standard, undoubtedly an accomplished singer and conductor with an excellent sense of style, language and musicianship and more importantly, he motivates choristers to excel.”
